I take photos because I love every part of it. I love being out in the world. I love people. I love the forms of clouds, and the colors of the sky, and and the brief, ordinary moments of unguarded human expression. I take photos of what interests me, and keep whatever is interesting.
I love converting the familiar into the unknown. The world can become ordinary when encountered every day, but when it is amplified—the blacks blacker and the whites whiter, the lines sharper and the scale larger—it can once again evoke awe, and wonder, and curiosity.
I also love finding the limits of the tools I work with. Cameras, printers, and computers are beautiful technologies, but they are not perfect. Their imperfections form the basis for an exploration of how a moment is translated to an image, and what may be lost—or gained—along the way.
